Alison Goldfrapp, the vocalist of the electronic duo Goldfrapp, has announced her first-ever solo album, The Love Invention, which is set to be released on May 12th, 2023, via Skint/BMG. The album will feature 11 tracks that capture her “forward-thinking” approach to songwriting and her “reawakening as a dancefloor priestess”.

Goldfrapp has been sharing singles from the album so far, two of them being “Digging Deeper” and “So Hard So Hot”. The latter is a synth-heavy track that captures glossy synths and an intense bassline, paired with a classic house beat. According to the musician, the track seeks to reflect a mythical world that is simultaneously powerful and fragile and represents the “instability and hope of transitional states.”

Goldfrapp’s upcoming album will also feature collaborations with Claptone and Paul Woolford. The expanded digital version of The Love Invention will include solo versions of both tracks, “Digging Deeper” and “Fever,” as well as remixes by Niina and Special Request Club Mix. The album’s tracklist also includes “Impossible (Alison Goldfrapp’s ‘Touch the Sky’ Edit)” and “Gatto Gelato (Niina Remix).”

Goldfrapp’s last album with Will Gregory as Goldfrapp was 2017’s Silver Eye. In 2018, they released a deluxe edition, featuring a remix by Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan. With The Love Invention, Goldfrapp is set to channel her love of disco and house into a solo album that reflects her craving for euphoria. She is also set to play a series of live shows in the UK.

In summary, Alison Goldfrapp’s upcoming solo album, The Love Invention, is set to be released on May 12th, 2023, via Skint/BMG. The album will feature 11 tracks that capture her “forward-thinking” approach to songwriting and her “reawakening as a dancefloor priestess.” Goldfrapp has shared two singles from the album so far, “Digging Deeper” and “So Hard So Hot,” and the album will also feature collaborations with Claptone and Paul Woolford.
