New Wave In The 2000's

New wave music has been around since the late 1970s and early 1980s, but it still has a dedicated following today. While many of the original new wave bands are no longer active, there are still plenty of artists who are keeping the genre alive in 2023. Here are some of the current bands and artists who are still making new wave music:

The 1975

This British band has been around since 2002, but they really hit their stride with their 2013 self-titled debut album. Their sound is a mix of new wave, pop, and rock, and they've been compared to bands like Duran Duran and INXS.

CHVRCHES

This Scottish trio formed in 2011 and quickly gained a following with their synthpop sound. Their music is heavily influenced by new wave bands like Depeche Mode and The Human League.

St. Vincent 

Annie Clark, who performs under the name St. Vincent, has been making music since the mid-2000s. Her sound is a mix of new wave, art rock, and pop, and she's been compared to artists like David Bowie and Kate Bush.

The Killers

This Las Vegas band formed in 2001 and quickly became one of the biggest new wave revival bands of the 2000s. Their sound is heavily influenced by bands like New Order and The Smiths.

Future Islands

This Baltimore band formed in 2006 and gained a following with their 2014 album Singles. Their sound is a mix of new wave, post-punk, and synthpop, and their live shows are known for frontman Samuel T. Herring's intense performances.
